The Burke Museum

The Northwest Paleontological Association’s relationship with the Burke Museum

The Northwest Paleontological Association counts several Burke Museum staff among its founders. We continue our commitment to support the Burke museum. We work to promote it through several of our activities:

  • Several of our members volunteer at the museum, preparing fossils in the paleontology lab, and/or doing field work on the Burke/UW team.

  • We attend and present at Fossil Finders, supporting the education department. NPA is looking for volunteers to staff these events.

  • We bring Judith, the ceratopsian cast, to Dino Fest days and other events at the Burke.

NPA is always looking for new ways to support the Burke Museum in its mission. Have ideas? Please volunteer for the NPA education outreach team. Contact club officers to learn more.

Behind the Scenes Burke Paleo Lab Tour

A person in a dinosaur costume, specifically a T-Rex, working at a table with a large fossil or rock specimen in a laboratory setting.

The Burke fossil lab and collections are awesome. If you have not been to see it and have an interest, requests can be made with the Lab Manager to tour you and your family through it. See what fossils are being prepared up close. It’s a great opportunity. If you would like to see the lab after one of the NPA meetings, please ask the Lab Manager or Burke representative at the meeting. If you would like to come at a different time, please fill out the form below.
