May Meeting - New Date

Due to the Memorial Day holiday weekend, our May Meeting has been moved to May 31st. We are excited to feature:

Speaker: Michael Holland, Burke Museum Preparator, Hell Creek Project. See how dinosaur fossils from the collection cabinets become engaging and scientifically accurate exhibit features. Michael will offer insight on the materials and techniques he used in the past to create many of the dinosaur reconstructions still on display in museums today. Those examples will be compared with his more recent work, showing how the process has evolved by combining traditional methods from a century ago with new 3D imaging and fabrication technology. Learn how this work helps to further our understanding of extinct animals, and understand why it brings museum visitors opportunities that would otherwise not be possible.

Field Trip Final Details: If you haven’t already taken the field trip survey, please check your email and do so. Jim will be going over the details of the longer UT-WY-MT trip and how you can hop on and hop off or go to all of the wonderful fossil sites. We will finalize the local trip dates as well.

Member Show & Tell! Don’t forget to bring fossils to share with the members.

Meeting details: 1pm in the East Classroom (downstairs) at the Burke Museum.
